The Top Ten (mostly) Powerpop Singles of 2012

The Top Ten (mostly) Powerpop Singles of 2012

This was a damn fine year for powerpop, in my view. We covered the best of the first half in our mid year post of best powerpop singles, several of which also appear in our end of year list. So, without further delay, here’s Carolina Orange’s best singles of 2012:

1. David Myhr - Got You Where He Wanted (from Soundshine)

2. The Heartless Devils – Blame You (From El Diablo Sin Corazon)

3. Didn’t Planet – Bitter (from We’re Going Nowhere)

4. The Golden Seals – The Year Things Fell Apart (from Increase the Sweetness)

5. Dave Birk – Speed Queen Mystery Date (from Speed Queen Mystery Date)

6. Shoes - Hot Mess (from Ignition)

7. Throwback Suburbia - Sinking Feeling (from Shot Glass Souvenir)

8. John Fullbright – Gawd Above (from From The Ground Up)

9. Marty Graveyard - Do You Really Wanna Dance? (from Summer Holiday)

10. Successful Failures – The Rise of China (from Here I Am)

Disagree? I’m always interested in any obscure pop gems I may have missed this year. Please share your thoughts and add any discs you thought were particularly good in the comments section below.
